Where to look
Open the Game Pad and select the Partner menu. The stars above a character show friendship level. Use the Character Tracker to record the number you currently see without assuming a published maximum.
What increases friendship
The official manual says friendship increases a little through playing or chatting together. At a sufficiently high level, special clothing may be received. Exact point values, star thresholds and a best farming schedule are not supplied.
Where received clothing goes
Open Game Pad → Partner → Friends to access special sets. The manual also points to the cave for special clothing, but does not give a complete set-by-set condition list. Record only clothing you have actually received.
