How to play mini games

Get from the main menu to your first cooperative round, with controller labels that match your setup.

Choose your session

Start a 1–4 player session on one console. For internet play, choose Online; the manual specifies 2–4 players who are registered as Friends, with Nintendo Switch Online membership. The host controls menu choices and activity starts.

Set up an online room

The host selects Create Room, chooses the room settings and waits for friends to join before starting. Joining players search for a room. If the host sets a password, share that four-digit number with the invited friends; only players who know it can enter. The host controls the activity and menu selections.

Choose difficulty, appearance and partner

Difficulty is selected at the start of a session. Later, appearance changes are available at the Make-Up Salon on the third Shopping Mall floor, and partner changes at the Photo Studio’s Partner Room.

Find and start a round

In Hometown, go to the Game Park’s rightmost counter. Read the selected game’s on-screen rules before starting, then choose your partner. Do not assume that two games use the same inputs.

Know your controller labels

The manual’s Right Button means interact/confirm on a horizontal Joy-Con. On paired Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller, use A. Bottom Button/B returns; Top Button/X opens Game Pad; Left Button/Y opens the Sticker Book or board map.
